From my bookshelf: The Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung
The book that helped me reverse Type 2 Diabetes
The Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung is the book that changed everything for me. I read it in Spring 2023, and within a few pages, I knew it wasn’t just another health book. It was a wake-up call. And a roadmap.
Until I read this book, I didn’t even know what insulin resistance was. Despite living with Type 2 Diabetes since 2007, no one had ever explained the root cause to me in a way that made sense. I thought I had “bad genes” and was broken. That I had failed. That I’d be on medication forever, with things only getting worse over time. Doctors told me it was chronic and progressive.
Dr. Fung helped me understand that Type 2 Diabetes is a disease of too much insulin, and that by changing how and when I eat, I could actually reverse it. Not just manage it. Reverse it.
This book gave me a foundation. It gave me language. And it gave me the push to keep learning, experimenting, and advocating for myself.
I’ve read a lot of health books since then, but The Diabetes Code is still the one I return to. The one I recommend most. The one that helped me go from daily insulin injections to none. And from hopelessness to healing.
If you’ve been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes, or if someone you care about has, read this book. It could change your life, too. True story.
